Décor
- Decorate with vintage suitcases stacked on top of each other, open with the contents spilling out, etc.
- Use maps to decorate in creative ways like cutting triangle pieces and creating a banner, antiquing the map, map paper lanterns, cut-out cupcake toppers, etc.
- Display Dr. Seuss’s book “Oh The Places You’ll Go!”
- Decorate with old postcards, maybe spread them all over the tables.
- Make a banner of different country’s flags.
Food
- As the guests arrive, you could hand out packages of peanuts in honor of the classic airplane food.
- You could make refreshments based on the bride’s favorite place she’s ever traveled to or wants to travel to; i.e. pastries for Paris, taco salad for Mexico, pasta and pizza for Italy, etc. OR serve foods from all over the world!

Love all these travel ideas, made stationery or decor with old maps, boarding pass invitations…the lot. We have also tried map table numbers with a destination name for each table rather than a number…looking fabulous.
I’m in love with this idea. Sound so me. I love simply every idea you have here. It’s perfect!
Hello, where did you find the “cardboard” map paper you used in the travel themed bridal shower hearts please?
I’m not positive but I’m sure you could find similar prints at Hobby Lobby.
Hi, I’m really struggling. I would love to do the map bags with candles for a baby shower I’m hosting however, I don’t know where to get these things. I would also like to do the baggage claim for the favors but I don’t know what to use for the luggage. Do I actually have to buy mini luggage? I need assistance please help.
Thank you
I would look around online. I found some really cute ones on Etsy in the Path Less Traveled Shop. As for luggage, you could find containers that look like luggage at the craft store and decorate them as you’d like. I have some cute ones from Land of Nod that I have used in my girls room for decoration. Good Luck!
