My oldest was turning 10 and wanted to celebrate with a Nerf War. His party turned out to be the best party I’ve ever thrown. Kids and Adults played and loved every second of it. Not only was this party so successful, but it was inexpensive. This is a perfect party theme for boys or girls of just about any age.

Fishing Party
There was no surprise when I asked my son what he wanted to do for his 9th birthday… GO FISHING. Our memories of this last summer were all about catching and releasing. We would load up the truck and head out to different fishing spots every week. I wasn’t quite sure at first how to approach this theme with a bunch of rambunctious boys. I didn’t know how many boys had fishing poles and even if they knew how to fish. I decided the best way to celebrate was to caravan down to my parents house who have a pool and a running river behind their house. This location was perfect!
This party could be done up the canyon, at a pond or resevoir, the beach or even in your backyard. If you don’t have access to a water source, create one with a play pool. Here are some helpful ideas to help you celebrate an off the HOOK party!
Pirate Party
My friend Jen Anderson celebrated her son Dylan’s 8th birthday with a pirate-themed bash. Dylan celebrated his birthday with a pirate-themed event, which all his friends seemed to love. Everything was pirate themed, from the food to the games and activities. It was a well thought out party. I thought I just had to share some of these brilliant ideas with my readers in case any of your children are pirate enthusiasts like Dylan.
Although the party was amazing, it can be so difficult to know what to buy for an 8 year old, especially because they all seem to like different things. Thankfully, my friend was able to tell me about some websites that could help me out. She said that Coolest Gadgets has some great toys for 8 year old boys! Although he clearly loves pirates, he might enjoy some other toys too. Children seem to outgrow phases so quickly, he might not even like pirates next week!
He seemed to receive a lot of new toys and games for his birthday, I’m sure he’ll enjoy playing with them all after his party ends. Jen will probably be made to play some too! Overall, Dylan seemed to really enjoy his day and all his friends were kept entertained by the party games Jen had planned around pirates. If anyone else’s son, or daughter, loves pirates, this might be the next theme of their party. Don’t forget to buy a pirate cake too, that was one of the highlights for the children. Maybe you could take some of these part ideas and incorporate them into your own pirate party. >
Camo Party Ideas
What little boy doesn’t love to dress in camo and pretend their in the army or hunting? My friend Jen Anderson created the coolest camo party for her son, Ethan’s 6th birthday. Kids at this age are hard to plan a party for because they’re getting older and don’t want juvenile themed parties. This party was perfect for a bunch of boys.
