- Don’t use gutter clips. Grab professional grade lighting which already have clips attached to each socket. Slide them onto the soffit under your eaves. If you match the strand color close to your soffit you can leave them up year round, they’ll be less noticable. Use white for white soffit and green for brown soffit.
- Don’t place your lights straight up, facing the sky. Moisture is more likely to leak into your light sockets causing damage and ruining the socket. You could get some battery powered fairy lights so you won’t have to plug the lights into a plug socket.
- If applying lights around windows, use a hot glue gun to fasten for straight lines.
- Don’t use icicle lights if you live in a place that gets a lot of wind. The lights will end up swinging onto your roof and un-attach as well as break. You will be more likely to get parts of your lights not working.
